The story began in 2022 when one of our beloved clients asked us to start working on the packaging design for a brand called “Dough land”.
This brand was going to produce bakery products like croissants and stuffed sandwiches… either savory fillings like various cheeses or sweet like chocolate and jam.
We had to study this market well and do our homework….and in the end we reached the following conclusion…. that most of the key players in this market were working on making a clear shot of the sandwich filling, and almost all the packaging design for this category at that time were similar to each other.
We started thinking about how to create a different identity that distinguishes our brand, because it is entering a strong competition between three major companies in this market, and older than him by years.
We thought of linking the product to a character that has a light spirit, because people generally interact with these things…. as they say, people react to people.
We started drawing this character and changing his look. according to the flavors used in the sandwich filling.
So, for the Istanbuly cheese sandwich, we drew a Turkish person….and for the Spanish olive cheese sandwich, we turned it into a Spanish matador bullfighter.
That’s gave to the brand a bold packaging identity to be distinguished through the shelfs battle
And we wanted it to have a different experience than what is available in the market
because we found that all the companies are displaying the products in similar stands and boxes, which makes most retailers display mixed products in each stand, so the brands lose their identity.
So, to distinguish “Dough land” and make it from a different place like its taste, and as we suggested the slogan, we made a completely different dispenser that forces the merchants to display dough land alone.
